Dedication of Boy Scout Lincoln Highway Marker set Aug. 17 at Bridge Park
The latest addition to the Lincoln Highway Bridge Park, an original highway marker was put in place last winter by Drew Davis, Coralville, as an Eagle Scout project. A formal dedication of the marker is Friday evening, Aug. 19, at the park on Tama’s east side. News-Herald/John Speer
Colleen Davis, a leader in the Lincoln Highway Bridge Park project, extended invitations Monday night to Mayors Mike Carnahan, Tama, and John Lloyd, Toledo, and their respective city councils to attend the Boy Scouts of America Abe Lincoln Marker dedication ceremony being planned by Jeannie Sieck and Davis on the evening of Friday, Aug. 17.
All donors who helped with the Eagle Scout project of Hunter Davis to install the maker along with anyone associated with scouting have been extended special invitations to the 5:30 p.m. event as well as the public.
Enhancing the historic Lincoln Highway Bridge Park in Tama and as a memorial to his mother, Larry and Cathy Svacina donated the original directional marker from the historic route for permanent display in 2015 and it has been in storage awaiting a plan to install it.
