Don’t miss out on local fishing events
It’s free fishing weekend in Iowa- no license is required.
There’s prizes to be won and prize fish to be caught at the 5th annual Kid’s Fishing Derby at Tama’s Cherry Lake. It’s set for tomorrow – Saturday, June 2, with sign in at 7:30 a.m. and the Derby runs from 8:30 a.m.-noon.
The Cherry Lake Fishing Derby is sponsored by the Community Activities Group and the event service group co-host is the Eagles with donations from supporters, sponsors and members.
Not only do kids get to take part, there’s a Adult 50 / 50 Fishing Contest.
All who are fishing need to bring their own gear.
Cherry Lake is located just southwest of the downtown Tama business district.
It’s Family Fishing Friday- tonight- Friday, June 1, at Otter Creek Lake and Park, rural Toledo, for an event described as a “laid back fun night of fishing.”
The event runs from 6-8 p.m. and is free.
The event is sponsored by the Tama County Conservation Board, George H.W. Bush Vamos A Pescar Education Fund and Iowa Valley?Community College.
Fishing poles and bait will be available and a campfire dinner is provided.
Interpreters and helpers will be on hand.
Follow the signs reading “fish” after entering the park.
