This Is Us- Diversity Celebration coming March 19

Recognizing the cultural diversity of the area, a celebration for community is planned for Monday, March 19, at the South Tama Elementary School in Tama. the event was postponed earlier due to winter weather.

Events get underway with a potluck meal from 5:30-6:30 p.m. During the evening a cultural dress fashion show, art displays and face painting are among the activities planned.

“A lot of us do not know our neighbors, our employers, our employees, our children, and resources available. Since this event is for everybody, it is a perfect venue to welcome those who are new, make new friends, and know more about our community,” said Ricarda Drummer, instructor at the Tama County Education Center.

The free community event is sponsored by Iowa Valley Continuing Education, Meskwaki Nation, Tama-Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce, Iowa Premium, MICA, Tama County Conservation, South Tama Schools, The State Bank of Toledo and Iowa State Extension.
