South Tama School Board to review of superintendent candidates tonight
The South Tama School Board is scheduled to review candidates for the position of South Tama Schools superintendent during a special meeting set for Monday night, March 12.
The board was to meet in closed session.
Plans are aimed at hiring a new superintendent for 2018-19 by April 13.
Interim Supt. Jeff Berger informed the board on Jan. 8 he would resign effective June 30. In a letter to staff. Berger wrote then, in part, ” I believe that if the decision on retaining me is this difficult to reach after two months of discussion and data gathering, that I am not the right person for the position.
On Jan. 22 the board hired Grundmeyer Leader Search Firm LLC, Ankeny, to seek qualified applicants to head the 1,541-pupil district.
The contract is for a maximum cost of $10,651, about the same cost for the previous search.
Interim superintendent Jeff Berger is being paid $140,000 annually.
