Charges added for Toledo clean up day
Toledo residents wanting to take advantage of the city-wide clean up day on April 25 will now have to sign up and pay a $10 fee. A free brush pick up day will follow on April 26. The curb side pick up day is being offered again after a one year absence. There was no charge in past years except for appliances, electronics and tires.
Council members approved the new charge and dates on a voice vote.
Those charges will continue with appliances costing $10 each, televisions and computer monitors $20 and tires $4 for each item.
City officials said these amounts cover expenses to the city for disposal at the Tama County Landfill.
Among items which will be prohibited – not picked up – regular garbage, construction materials, vehicles, heating and cooling equipment and hazardous wastes.
