Marshalltown Community College encourages scholarship applications

MARSHALLTOWN The Marshalltown Community College Foundation is accepting scholarship applications for the 2018-19 academic year now. All prospective and current MCC students should fill out a general scholarship application, which will make them eligible for nearly all of the more than $340,000 the Foundation expects to award. There is no deadline to apply for scholarships, but the Foundation begins awarding scholarship dollars in late March and early April.

Carol Geil, Executive Director of the MCC Foundation, says, “We hope to see scholarship applications from every student who will or might attend Marshalltown Community College. We often hear students tell us they don’t apply because they feel their grades aren’t good enough, their parents make too much money, or they assume that filling out the FAFSA is all they need to do. We like to make them aware that we have scholarships with GPA requirements starting at 2.0, and our financial need criteria often favor students who are not receiving full federal assistance.

For students with military service in the family (including grandparents and great-grandparents), the MCC Foundation strongly encourages completion of a Loyal S. and Helen Fairall Memorial Scholarship application.
