Each Wednesday the library hosts Art Lab that includes a delicious snack, (courtesy of the Shopko Foundation), reading buddies and an art project or perhaps a special guest will visit. Kids sign up to read, then two readers are paired to read. out loud to the others. This is great practice for our readers and great fun for the audience. Pictured here are the group of readers for this particular week: Janelle Matta, Oliva Meek and Taylor Dolezal (readers) Willow Fonua, Grant Dolezal, Livia Smith, Elena Glockl, Sydney Arp, Mariah Gilbert, Madi Gilbert and Jaycie Graves. Check out the library website or Facebook page to check out all library events.

Logan Roberts, the Tama County Naturalist / Park Ranger visited as our special guest for Art Lab. Logan taught us interesting facts about Iowa birds. Logan mentioned that the snowy owl is being spotted in Iowa, so be on the lookout for it. She showed various birds and we talked about their habitats, foods that they eat and the importance of their body parts. Logan then showed the group how to make a birdseed feeder by taking a pinecone, adding peanut butter, rolling in seed and adding a string to hang outside. This was a great educational experience for all of our participants. Pictured are: Janelle Matta, Olivia Meek, Willow Fonua, Kayda Wolf, Sydney Arp, Logan Roberts, Kiela Wolf, Edy Werner, Livia Smith and Taylor Dolezal.
