Eight students from South Tama Middle and High School were recently selected to take part in the Northeast Iowa Bandmasters Association Honor Band held each year in Oelwein the first Saturday in December.

The festival selects outstanding musicians from 7th and 8th Grades for the Middle School event and outstanding musicians from 9th through 12th Grades for the High School event. Each event has two bands made up of roughly 110 members and are made up of schools in the NEIBA District, which includes 70+ school districts ranging from Class 1A to 4A.

The musicians prepared music ahead of the day, rehearsed all day long with their bands, and performed a public concert that evening in the Oelwein High School gym.
