Gladbrook-Reinbeck School District to continue

Voters in Reinbeck overwhelmingly rejected dissolving the Gladbrook-Reinbeck School District in voting on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Even though the public measure to dissolve the school district was favored by nearly 6-1 in Gladbrook, the unofficial vote in Reinbeck was 1,354 opposed to 32 in favor. Gladbrook voters favored dissolution by an unofficial total of of 592-105 while Lincoln voters split with 66 in favor of dissolving the district and 86 opposed.

The unofficial votes totals were Yes to dissolve= 690 No= 1,545.

The Tama County Board of Supervisors will canvas the votes on Friday, Sept. 15.

Director District 1 – Ronald Lee Houghton – 126

Director District 2- Mandy Lekin – 153 (to fill a vacancy)

Director District 4- no candidate on ballot. Write-in votes hoped to be tabulated by late afternoon Wednesday, May 13 according to the Tama County Commissioner of elections Office. Incumbent Alan Kline did seek reelection as a write-in candidate.
