Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival set for Fri., Sat. May 19 and 20

Don’t miss the annual Tama Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival set for next weekend- May 19 and 20 in downtown Tama.

Sue Carnahan, Festival chair, promises the return of many traditional events and new entertainment and features as well. The event is psonsored by the Tama-Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce.

Events get under way on Friday with an ice cream social, vendor fair beginning at 5 p.m. the Tri-County?Community Band at 6 p.m. followed by Tama Firefighters Assoc. A wine and cheese tasting party, Citizen of the Year at the Tama Civic Center and Fire Station and the STC?Jazz Band at 8:30 p.m.

A wine and cheese tasting is being hosted at the Tama-Toledo Eagles?Club starting at 4 p.m.

Merriam’s Midway Carnival returns for the 65th consecutive year set up around the Tama Civic Center.

On Saturday events range from the 5K Run-Walk starting at ACE?Hardware at 8 a.m., the Grand Parade at 10 a.m., free entertainment beginning at noon in front of the Tama?Civic Center includes the 34th Army Band- Scrap Metal, Marty Mincer- Ragtime Piano Player and The James Longerbone Band.

There’s also a family photo booth, race car display and bean bag tourney at the Eagles.

Among the kids activities including the Sand?Hill Nickel Scramble, Grout Museum presents “Bubbles,” Kids Water Fights, Blank Childrens Hospital Fire Safety House and more.
