A couple with Tama-Toledo ties lost their home in a flood last year and are still struggling to recover.

Sabrina (Yanda) and Reid Caudill live in Shell Rock, Iowa, and suffered from flooding of the Shell Rock River which occurred in October, 2106. They were without insurance and reported they did not receive any assistance from state or federal governments.

The couple has been living with friends and continuing to work at their jobs in nearby Waverly.

Sabrina grew up here while Reid has lived in the Shell Rock area.

They not only lost their major appliances and house hold items in the flood waters, they have been told their home needs to be raised four feet at an estimated cost of $20,000 and more repairs will be needed.

A benefit gathering to help the couple get back on their feet is planed for Saturday, Jan. 28 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Eagles club, 112 E. 3rd in downtown Tama.

A soup and salad meal with a freewill offering is planned.

There will be a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, bake sale, $10 haircuts and a full cash/card bar.
