While the weather has been downright lovely in the month of November, the holiday season is still right on schedule. The Toledo Techs 4-H group are preparing for colder temperatures with a holiday themed service project called Giving Trees.

On Friday, Nov. 1, a group gathered at the ISU Extension & Outreach Office to assemble cold weather items into baggies. Each bag includes winter items such as gloves and hats. There are bags available from toddler aged children to adults and for both males and females. The bags will be placed on a clothesline located on the Tama County Courthouse lawn.

The service project coincides with the event Home for the Holidays – A Community Christmas Kickoff. As of Friday the Techs had 68 bags assembled.

Anyone who may be in need of these type of winter items can simply take a bag off of the clothesline which will be located on the Tama County Courthouse lawn after 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 19. The bags will be available as supplies last.

If you would like to add your own donation to the Giving Trees simply assemble a bag with items and place it on the clothesline after 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 19.

The group who helped assemble the baggies included Deb Llewellyn, Darla Thiessen, Taylor Lekin, Natalia Behounek, Shayla Behounek, Avery Blocker, Melanie Blocker, Maisie Lacina, and Jaydee Thiessen.

“It makes me feel warm making others warm,” said Maisie Lacina.
