Iowa Valley Continuing Ed offerings to be enhanced here

As part of Iowa Valley Community College District’s efforts this spring to reduce expenditures and increase revenues, overall staffing has been decreased at Iowa Valley Continuing Education (IVCE).

The staff reductions, in turn, necessitated an organizational realignment of individual employees’ roles and responsibilities. The overall goals for IVCE’s realignment are long-term sustainability and strengthening our commitment to our mission by responding to diverse community needs and building community partnerships.

For the South Tama area Anne Michael is no longer serving in the staff position.

For years, IVCE’s practice has been to assign staff roles and responsibilities based on location and program type or service. This had the unintended effect of segmenting IVCE and isolating some staff, resulting in communication challenges, duplicative efforts, and inefficiencies. The new IVCE model centralizes all staff in Marshalltown, which will provide significant strategic and operational improvements. This realignment includes initiatives designed to promote greater cross-collaboration within the department, focus on new growth areas, and improve operational efficiency and financial performance.

As a result of this realignment, IVCE’s programs and services in Tama, Poweshiek and Hardin Counties will be enhanced. Our employees will focus on efforts that meet the diverse community needs within those counties. IVCE will also expand business outreach in all areas to support employers in addressing their workforce gaps.

As always, IVCE will continue to provide opportunities for residents to receive a high school equivalency diploma, learn to speak English fluently, and receive employment services throughout the region.
