Many times “backing the blue” here refers to the South Tama Trojans athletic teams.

But now a group of Tama neighbors are tying blue ribbons around lamp posts and other prominent locations to show support for police officers.

They ask you to tie a big blue ribbon – a strip of blue around a tree or somewhere around your home, to show we honor, support and thank our Police Officers for all they do to help and protect us. It would be nice to show our appreciation for their service.

The group says, “Our ‘protectors’ need to know we care and are thankful!”
