Personnel hirings, changes before STC School Board

New staff hirings, personnel assignments and changes were approved and staff resignations accepted by the South Tama School Board at a meeting on Monday, June 2.

Michelle Yuska, Mark McFate, Penny Tyynismaa, and Jackie Dvorak were present with Alan Kline was absent.

Contracts approved were for Hannah Mullen. pre school teacher and Patricia Fairbanks as elementary ESL teacher, both effective August, 2016, and both at a salary of $38,283; and Leah Fonua, middle school counselor effective August, 2016, $42,165.

Also, Emily Chyma as High School Student Council, effective August 2016 at a salary of $2,680; Jeffrey DeBondt, head 7th grade football coach, $2,237, Derek Dixon, assistant 7th grade football coach, $1,756 both effective in August and Deanna Zmolek, head varsity golf coach for girls, $3,001. Dixon will also be head 8th grade basketball coach for boys at a salary of $2,039 effective January 2017 and head 8th grade girls basketball coach, effective October, 2016, at a salary of $2039

Internal transfers include Shelly Riley from .5 Title 1 to 1.0 Title 1 at a salary of $48,599; Levi Hunerdosse will be transfer from assistant varsity girls track to head varsity girls track coach at a salary of $4,955.

Resignations were accepted from Chelsea Ahrens, high school varsity girls golf, George Corum, high school girls track, Rick Meisner, alternate high school teacher and Travis Gratteau-Zinnel, middle school band and choir director.

Roof Bids

Bid were received for the Vocational Agriculture Roof were from TMI at $75,000, Modern Builders at $39,425 and Stanley roofing at $29,816. Modern Builders would fix the seams and replace the cap but will have to follow up if there are leaks. TMI will coat it with asphalt coating with a 5-year warranty. Stanley Roofing is a liquid applied rubber and has a 10-year warranty. Board members voted 4-0 to issue the contract to Stanley Roofing at $29,816.

Resolutions were passed to appoint Bankers Trust Company of Des Moines, Iowa to serve as paying agent, bond registrar and transfer agent, approving the paying agent, bond registrar and transfer agent agreement and authorizing the execution of same.

Pursuant to the provisions of Iowa Code section 423E.5 and chapter 423F, $6,310,000 school infrastructure sales, services and use tax revenue bonds, Series 2016, dated June 30, 2016, have been sold and action taken to provide for the maintenance of records, registration of Bonds and payment of principal and interest in connection with the issuance of the Bonds.

Interest rate is 2.300% with the principal amount of mandatory redemption on July 1, 2017 of $175,000. July 1, 2018 of $180,000, July 1 2019 $195,000, July 1, 2010 $205,000, July 1, 2021 $210,000, July 1, 2022 $215,000, July 1, 2023 $220,000,July 1, 2024 $225,000, July 1, 2025 $895,000, July 1, 2026 $920,000, July 1, 2027 $945,000, July 1, 2028 $970,000 and the final redemption on July 1, 2029 of $955,000.
