“Cinderella! Cinderella! All we hear is Cinderella!” Ok, no, it is not THAT Cinderella. It is Opera Iowa’s Gioachino Rossini’s Cinderella. Yes, the Opera is coming back to the community, hosted by Toledo PEO Chapter DF, on Thursday, February 18, at 7:00 p.m. at the Wieting Theatre.

Cinderella is a perfect show for children and families. Rossini’s version of the classic-fairy tale Cinderella is a vocal and comedic romp! A wise magician takes the place of the fairy godmother and the girl’s father rants and raves instead of a wicked stepmother, but the nasty stepsisters, Prince Charming and a glass slipper prove, beyond all question, that this is the fairy tale we all know and love. And when it’s combined with hilarious characters and situations and set to some of Rossini’s finest music, it becomes comic opera at its most exhilarating best!

After the performance, PEO Chapter DF will be hosting a reception, with a Cinderella theme, at the Toledo Community Center next door, where patrons can visit with the Opera Iowa singers/actors.

Cost of the opera will be $15.00 for adults and $12.00 for students. Advanced tickets may be purchased at all three local banks, State Bank of Toledo, (both locations), Lincoln Savings Bank, and Pinnacle Bank, beginning Thursday, February 4.

After expenses, proceeds will be donated to the Wieting Theatre to help with Phase 2.
