Tama’s Oak Hill Cemetery Association Sets Goals, Seeks New Members
Officers of the Oak Hill Cemetery met on January 8th to organize for the year ahead. One of the goals they identified was to increase membership. Anyone who is interested in this group is welcome to join.
The association has completed a long list of projects to improve Oak Hill. They have planted shrubs and trees, provided several benches throughout the cemetery, worked with the city of Tama on straightening stones, held a cemetery walk, planted and tended flowers at the new Veterans’ Memorial, cleaned the statuary throughout the cemetery, and written grants to landscape and paint the historical fence.
The group identified other projects for the upcoming year. The City of Tama has been replacing the crumbling cement driveways, and another part of drives will be replaced this spring. Other projects are continuing the stone straightening as well as some maintenance tasks.
This is an active group who meets the second Friday of every month at the King Tower at 2 p.m.. We conduct business and then we socialize. Feel free to join us. We would love to have you.
