Danielle Anderson, rural Toledo, is entering her second year in a battle against cancer. “This has been a long fight for Danielle and it will continue” proclaims a poster lending support for her and her three daughters, Kiley, 18, Kelsey, 10, and Josey, 4, from Team Danielle Anderson.

Now you can add your support – a spaghetti supper, bake sale and silent auction is set for Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Eagles Club in Tama. All proceeds will benefit Danielle and her family. DJ Brandon Dunning – B-doog Productions – will be providing musical entertainment from 5- 9 p.m.

“It’s just another bump in the road,” Danielle is quoted as saying on the poster detailing her journey through treatment.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer on Jan. 30, 2015, and began chemotherapy on Feb. 13.

On April 24 tests showed cancer decreasing in lymph nodes, liver metastases and spine. However, after three months of chemo which began on April 29, the cancers were found to have grown back.

A 12-week treatment cycle was begun on July 25 with positive test results found on Sept. 25. Round four of chemo then began.

On Oct. 26, an MRI showed fluid in Danielle’s head resulting in the need for surgery to drain fluids with a shunt which also is used for chemo treatments directly to her brain. Weekly trips to Des Moines are begun for treatment and Danielle must take a medical leave of absence from work.
