Veterans Day Events Wednesday, Nov. 11
Veterans Memorial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Tama.
The annual Veterans Turkey Dinner will be served from 5-8 p.m. this saturday, Nov. 7 at the Toledo Legion Hall, 109 n. Main St.
Toledo Reinig-Friedrich American Legion Post 72 will present programs at the South Tama Elementary School at 9 a.m. and at the STC?High School at 10 a.m. on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11.
At 11 a.m. Legion members will host a program on the Tama County courthouse Square in downtown Toledo. In case of inclement weather, the program will be in the Legion Hall.
November 11th is never a forgotten day at Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel, rural Tama. It has been tradition at Meskwaki to pay tribute to Veterans for their years of service protecting this great nation.
Every year on Nov. 11, you will find Meskwaki filled with thousands of honorable war veterans exchanging old stories and reminiscing of times past.
As a small token of appreciation, Meskwaki provides a free lunch to all Veterans. Veterans will also receive a free t-shirt so they have something to take with them to remember that Meskwaki is thankful for their service.
Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on in the Meskwaki Veterans Convention Center. All Veterans (plus a guest) who attend will be served. Military ID may need to be presented upon arrival.
Veterans Dinner and Powwow
Dinner will be served beginning at 4 p.m. at the Meskwaki Tribal Center Gym and the Veterans Powwow will be begin at 6 p.m. with the Grand Entry. The public is invited to attend this free event.
