Our Summer Reading Programs and Story time have been a success with over 50 participants. They had lots of fun reading, doing crafts and activities. The Adult reading ends August 15th. Be sure to come in and pick up your $5 gift certificate and sign up for the treat basket drawing when you reach the goals.

New movies to the library are: The Little Mermaid, The Adventure of Milo and Otis, Jaws, Charlotte’s Web, Black or White, McFarland USA, and The Hobbit-The Battle of the Five Armies.

New music CDs: Kacey Musgraves, Pageant Material; James Taylor, Before This World; Ellie Goulding, Lights.

New books on the shelves are: X., Sue Grafton; Alert, James Patterson; Friction, Sandra Brown; Wishes for Christmas, Fern Michaels; The Last Time I Saw Her, Karen Robards; Deadly Assets, W.E.B. Griffin; Devil’s Bridge, Linda Fairstein; Silver Linings, Debbie Macomber; Speaking in Bones, Kathy Reichs; Who Do You Love, Jennifer Weiner; Keeper’s Reach, Carla Neggers; Candy Corn Murder, Leslie Meier.

Non-Fiction: David Brooks, The Road to Character; Janice P. Nimura, Daughters of the Samurai; Trisha Yearwood, Trisha’s Table; Jep & Jessica Robertson, The Good, The Bad and The Grace of God; Brittany Gibbons, Fat Girl Walking; Melissa Rivers, The Book of Joan.

How many of the “100 books to read to your child before kindergarten” have you read? Find the list at the library where all 100 books are available to check out. Many of these books have been purchased through our Enrich Iowa Funding.

We will be having Back to School Root Beer Floats on August 26th. All school age children are welcome. Studio Time on Mondays and Early Out Programs on Wednesday will be starting as soon as school starts. We will also provide a program again this year on the professional development no school days at South Tama. Keep posted on facebook and our library website for this information.

There will be programs on Friday, July 31st and Friday, August 7th at the library and hosted by the Girl Scouts of America.

September is National Library Card sign up month. Come in and sign up for a card if you don’t already have one, it’s free, quick and easy, and enables you to access all of our materials and resources. Bring a photo ID and proof of address.
