South Tama names new school superintendent

Mary Jones, Fruita, Colo., has been chosen as superintendent of South Tama Schools. She was offered and accepted the post on Wednesday night on May 27 according to an STC news release. She will replace current superintendent Kerri Nelson who resigned effective July 1 to become superintendent at Shenandoah.

Jones is currently the acting superintendent of the Mesa County Valley School District.

She is completing her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Northern Colorado. South Tama reports Jones “has extensive experience as a building principal and central office administrator.”

“We, the board, discussed both candidates in detail and gave a lot of consideration to input from our focal groups. We are pleased with Mary Jones accepting hte position and look forward to her being our new superintendent,” Michelle Yuska, STC Board president, said in the release.
