South Tama School Board grants 3.75 percent salary hike for staff

On Wednesday night, May 6, the South Tama School Board held a special meeting to review master contracts and salary increases.

The board approved the language changes in the Master Contract with the South Tama County Education Association which shows a 3.75 percent salary increase for certified teachers, support staff and administrators.

Also an amendment to the current budget for increased expenditures due to salary coding for increased food service, construction projects and other increased expenditures.

A public hearing date for this amendment will be on May 26, at 5:30 p.m. at the Administration Office across from the High School

Special Education Review

The School District is required to review the Special Education District Wide Service Delivery Plan every five years. The board approved the committee that will review the plan.

That committee consists of Amy Knupp, AEA 267 Consultant; Kerri Nelson, STS Superintendent; Roy Frakes, High School Principal; Eric Townsley, Middle School; Stacy Stull, Elementary Assistant Principal; Joy Schirmer, Regular Education Teacher; Laurie Baack, Special Education Teacher, Karen Mixdorf, Special Education Teacher; Nate Doran, Special Education Teacher; Stephanie Babinet,Parent, Marcia Hoskey, parent and Kelly Vesely, parent.

The board also reported the decision of Monday’s closed session: it was agreed to continue the search for a superintendent replacement.
