Air conditioning is on the way for the South Tama High School gymnasium. School Board members reviewed the two bids received for the project and chose Scharnweber’s Inc., Toledo, to complete the work by May 1.

Scharnweber’sn> bid was $113,900. The second bid received was from S & S Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning LLC, with a bid of $168,000 Superintendent Kerri Nelson recommended they accept the Scharnweber bid since it was by far the lowest, and also that the work could be completed by the date requested. Board members unanimously approved the low bid.

No Classroom Air

Bids were also requested for high school classroom air conditioning. S & S Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning submitted the only bid totaling $598,000.

It was recommended this bid be rejected, as the board felt it was too high, as well as it was the only bid received.

This bid also required the work to be completed by May 1, 2015.

The bid was rejected and they will advertise again for sealed bids but have a completion date a little more reasonable.

It has not yet been decided what the completion date should be.

High School Portable Units

In other business:

Personnel: approved were for a contract for Stacy Stull as Assistant Elementary Princiipal with a salary of $100,000 for a work year of 260 days; Internal transfers includes Keely Upah transferring from Elementary half time Tag and half time reading to full time Title 1 for the 2015-2016 year with no change in salary; Joy Schirmer transferred from Third Grade teacher in the Elementary building to full time special education Coach at the Elementary and Middle School for 2015-2016, with no change in salary; Laurie Baack will transfer from Elementary Special Education in Grades 2 and 3 to full time Behavior Interventionist at the Elementary for 2015-16 term with no change in salary.

Resignations: Jackie Ellenbecker who has been serving as cheerleading Sponsor for football and wrestling, effective Feb. 13; Lon Wilkerson, 9th Grade Boys Basketball, effective Feb. 24, and Mallory Albers resignation was from Special Education Aide in the Elementary building effective Feb. 27; Nathan Doran, head boys basketball coach at the High school effective March 3; and Nancy Kephart, bus driver effective March 9.
