Barb Crain benefit is set for this Friday, Feb. 6

Friends and neighbors of Barb Crain, Toledo, will host a spaghetti supper and bake sale benefit for her this Friday, Feb. 6, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the South Tama High School cafeteria. There will be a free-will offering.

The benefit is being held during South Tama girls basketball contests with Clear Creek-Amana.

Barb is undergoing cancer chemotherapy treatments.

She was diagnosed with brain cancer on May 7, 2014, and life-flighted to Mercy Hospital, Des Moines on May 27 due to complications with the tumor.

Part of the tumor was removed that day and it was determined by a biopsy it was Glioblastoma,

Since then, she has undergone 33 radiation and 33 chemotherapy treatments.

On. Oct. 7, a new tumor was discovered for which she is currently being treated.

Barb was the secretary for the South Tama Schools Transportation Department when she became ill. Previously she had worked in the news department of The Toledo Chronicle and Tama New-Herald.

Her family expresses their appreciation for the acts of kindness and prayers during this difficult time.
