At the end of South Tama School Board meeting on Monday, Sept 20, the board discussed what to do with the property where the former South Tama Primary stood on State Street (?U.S. Highway 63) in Tama. The block square, bordered by 8th and 9th streets on the north and south and State and Oswego on the east and west stands as a vacant lot.
Recently the board was asked to consider selling this property for a multi-family dwelling and now for senior citizen housing by West Des Moines-based developer Newbury Living.
The board agreed to look into the possibility of selling the property.
STC?Superintendent Kerri Nelson was given the go-ahead to explore the possibility including zoning changes.
Upon receiving a report, a public hearing could be scheduled to receive public comments and for a possible sale consideration.
