A yearly event for Live Healthy Iowa is Go the Distance Day. On this day, which was May 2 this year, schools were encouraged to have students spend 30 minutes doing some type of physical activity. The STC Elementary students participated in a variety of activities, which included dance, hula hoops, jump roping, walking, track activities, and much more. STC Elementary was drawn from the 200 participating Iowa schools as the $1,000 cash prize winner with STC Elementary physical education teacher Lon Wilkerson displaying the check. This money will be used to purchase new playground equipment for next year!
