99th Meskwaki Powwow runs today-Sunday

Colorful regalia combined with historic song will again be featured as the dancers take part in traditional performances at the 99th annual Meskwaki Powwow during performances this Thursday, Aug. 8 through Sunday Aug. 11. The Powwow Grounds are located three miles west of Tama on Tama County Road E49 and are bordered on the west by the Iowa River.

The performances are at 1:30 p.m. each afternoon and evenings at 7 p.m.

Thursday is Children’s Day, Senior Citizen Day is Friday and Saturday is Veterans Day with reduced admission prices for those recognized each day.

There are arts and crafts and history exhibits as well as Native American food offerings.
