Plenty of summer fun is coming up

With summer activities peaking, there’s still plenty left to do in the area this summer.

There’s a Car Show in Chelsea this Saturday, July 27 with proceeds to benefit the 2014 Chelsea 150th Celebration.

A Chelsea Firemen’s Hog Roast and dance and will follow the Car Show Saturday evening with proceeds to benefit the fire department.

Footloose Friday will be back with free entertainment on the Tama County?Courthouse Square in downtown on Friday evening, Aug. 2.

There will be food offerings and the Toledo Farmers Market will be open from 5-7 p.m. as it will each Friday through October.

Meskwaki Bingo Casino has a free Asian Show in the Veterans Convention Center on Friday, Aug. 2.

Doors open at 8:30 p.m. with a 9:30 p.m. showtime.

In Clutier, the Bohemian Plum Festival has a two-day run beginning Friday, Aug. 2, with lots of entertainment and activities.

And the Aug. 2-3 weekend also hosts the Pony- Express Double D Rodeo each evening at the rodeo arena seven miles north of Toledo on U.S. Highway 63 and one half mile east of Toledo.

The 99th annual Meskwaki Powwow runs Aug. 8-11 at the Powwow Grounds, two miles wet of Tama on Tama County Road E49.

Traditional Native American dances, exhibits, food and more mark the occasion.
