Summer reading has begun at the Tama Public Library. The kids started reading and keeping their log sheets on June 1st. Programs began with Week one, Thursday June 6 for the Preschool and Kindergarten kids.

We read and learned about worms and the important jobs they do. We made Button Bugs and played a relay game where the children got into blankets sewn into tubes by staff member Jan Alexander. The kids had to crawl like worms without using their hands. It was fun to watch.

Everyone had Kool-Aid and gummy worms for a snack.

Week one for the kids in first grade and up started on Tuesday, June 11. We were entertained by Magician Keith West and his assistant Miss Kitty. (I still want to know how she got in that box.)

Afterwards we made button bugs and had a sweet treat called Worms in dirt, which was really chocolate pudding, cookie crumbs and gummy worms. We had Kool-Aid to drink.
