South Tama teachers granted 3.6% pay hike

South Tama School Board

South Tama teachers will receive a 3.63 percent pay boost in the next contract year. School Board members voted 4-0 with member Jackie Dvorak absent to approve the negotiated contract during the regular session of April 15.

Cost of the pay increases totals $239,425.

Voting in favor were board members Anne Michael, Mark McFate, Ron Hala and Michelle Yuska.

In personnel matters the board on 4-0 votes:

approved a contract for Dustin Peska for assistant varsity baseball coach; internal transfer of Tiffany Thiessen from full time Middle School Consumer Science to half time Middle School Family Consumer Science and half time High School Guidance plus five extended days for Guidance; Doug Cherveny from high school evening custodial to high school day custodial; Lynette Benda for volunteer varsity girls tennis coach.

accepted resignations from Nathan Doran, 9th grade boys basketball coach; Leif Morris, assistant 8th grade boys football coach; Randy Van Dyk, varsity girls golf coach.

received retirement notices from Tim Downs, bus barn and maintenance supervisor; Karen Finical, kindergarten.

voted to terminate contracts of Alex Walker, Title VII aide; Gerald Moyer, bus driver.

In other business the board:

approved the addition of a Small Business Enterprise course to the Business and Industrial Technology curriculum at the high school.

approved the audit bid from Nolte Cornman and Johnson P.S. for the year ending June 30 at a cost of $7,600.
