South Tama Middle School blood drive is a success

DES MOINES- Volunteers are the heart of The Blood Center of Iowa. Without those who help to recruit volunteers, organize blood drives and donate their blood to patients in need, The Blood Center could not fulfill its mission of supplying blood and blood products to 46 hospitals in 44 Iowa counties.

The volunteer spirit was truly evident at the Tama and Toledo Communities Blood Drive held on Tuesday, Feb,19.

A total of 27 people responded to the call to donate blood, collecting 18 units. There were two first time donors.

The Blood Center of Iowa would like to commend the sponsor group, the STCMS Student Council, for their significant contribution to the blood drive as well as the South Tama Middle School for allowing us to hold the blood drive in their facility. We would also like to express appreciation to all the volunteers and donors who made a valuable contribution to the volunteer blood donor program.
