Quigley graduates from infantryman training

Army National Guard PFC. Matthew Quigley graduated Aug. 31 from the Direct Fire Infantryman One Station unit training at Fort Benning, GA. The training constists of Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training.

He is the son of Tim and Janelle Quigley, rural Toledo.

During basic training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations, tactics and experiencing use of various weapons, weapons defense available to infantry crewmen.

The advanced Individual Combat Training is designed to train indirect fire infantry soldiers to employ, fire and reciver anti – personnel and anti tank mines, locate, neutralize and extract mines, map reading and ground navigation; operate and maintain communication equipment and radio networks; construct and camouflage mortar firing positions; operate and maintain mortars and fire central eqipment for individual crew served weapons firing positions.
