The blue jean money
State Bank of Toledo donates to the community
TOLEDO – The State Bank of Toledo has been doing its part, giving back to the community in more ways than one. The bank started with a food drive back in November organized by Krystal Peshel.
A mountain of food grew and piled up under a Christmas tree in the corner of the bank. All of the canned and boxed items were donated to the STC Backpack Program for families in need.
But the bank didn’t stop there.
They also decided to hand out some giant checks. The first went to Kid’s Corner, the local daycare, which they do at the end of every year. The second big whammo of a check was for the STC’s At Risk program. The money for that one came right from the employees of the bank themselves.
Two Fridays a month, employees of the bank stuff five bucks in a jar to go casual and wear blue jeans. At the end of the year, the jar starts busting at the seams, so they donate it. Who knew so much good and so much money could be raised by a fashion statement?
