Tama County Market returns for spring

After a successful launch of Tama County Market, Chris Drummer and Mindi Koehler will be back in shop. With new spring dates and plenty of food vendors to go along with shopping. In a recent Facebook Live video, the duo explained the upcoming market experience.

“We’re back after a long winter’s nap, well maybe not a nap, we took a little bit of a break and then have been working pretty hard since February, getting our spring market set up which we’re really excited about,” said co-founder Chris Drummer.

On Thursday May 11, the market will hold a sip and shop event. Urban Boards, a Cedar Rapids based charcuterie and specialty board business, along with The Traveling Tapster, a mobile bartending service also based out of Cedar Rapids, will both be at the market. Patrons are invited to sip, shop, and snack from 8 to 5 p.m., with multiple adult beverages on tap and plenty of fun and elegant snacks from Urban Boards.

The fun won’t stop there as local favorite food truck, Big Acai, will be out at the market. The truck stopped at the last market bringing bowls, smoothies and much much more.

The next day Fire on Wheels Pizza out of Montezuma will set up shop. Like most humans, Drummer is a big fan of pizza.

“I’m excited because I like pizza, I could eat pizza all the time!” Drummer said.

On Saturday, Big Acai will make another appearance.

“We love having them out here, they were out here last time, and excited to make them back,” explained Drummer.

To cap off the first of two market weekends will be Mothers Day on May 14. Kate’s Kitchen Creations, out of Toledo will be selling baked goods. Kate is known for her cinnamon rolls, scones and breads.

“So on Mothers Day, if you want to come and get a sweet treat for your mom, come on out and pick up something from Kate,” she said.

During the next weekend, more shopping vendors will still be found.

This third go around the Tama County Market is partnering with more businesses and even people without businesses. One example is RS Welding of Victor, crafting many 3D metal works, which will be for sale. Products include antique textiles made into bags and pillows, hanging baskets and plenty for the garden.

Drummer and Koehler detailed filling a 16-foot truck in Texas and sending it back to Iowa for this event. The founding duo asks everyone to be mindful of road construction on Highway 30, and also thanks their friends and families for supporting them during this fun business venture.
