The Tama-Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed a new member into its organization recently. Birkwood Village senior center officially opened in November 2021 but recently completed and opened their memory support unit that serves tenants diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

The memory support area features 16 studio rooms with all-inclusive services at monthly costs ranging from $5,000 to $5,800.

Tenants living in the memory support area are offered daily programming that engages them with staff to provide interventions that help avoid the need to treat symptoms with medication.

Birkwood staff reported that occupancy for the assisted living and independent living rooms has remained at around 50 percent since late 2021 when the facility opened.

Upcoming events at Birkwood Village that are open to the public include a Cinnamon Roll & Coffee social hour at 3 p.m. on April 15, an Easter Egg Hunt at 2 p.m. on April 17 and live music at 6 p.m. on April 22.

Those looking for more information about the services, rates or amenities at Birkwood Village of Tama/Toledo or those interested in receiving a tour of the facility are encouraged to contact Kaleigh Sieck at 641-481-2300.
