Scholarships are awarded by MEMBERS1st

MARSHALLTOWN – MEMBERS1st Community Credit Union has announced Katelin Froelich, Toledo, a post-high school recipient, and Carlie Gorder, (Buckingham, a high school senior, are among 10 area winners of the credit union’s 2020 College Scholarship program! We were originally planning to award seven college scholarships, as we’ve done for the five years previous, but due to the challenging circumstances surrounding students this year, and because we received so many great entries, we decided to increase our award to 10 $1,000 college scholarships!

As part of their application, students submitted a 300-500 word essay offering their predictions for the future of financial services in the credit union industry, and gave ideas for how MEMBERS1st can continue to be “relevant” to their generation.

“We’re pleased to be offering these scholarships for the sixth year in a row,” said MEMBERS1st CEO Janet Borer. “The scholarship essays offer great insight into how MEMBERS1st can best serve our members, now and in the future. We’re very excited to play a role in contributing to the education of these young members.”
