Meet Shopko’s new store manager Robin Ortiz Aug. 31

“It’s a great place to work and I’m happy to come to it every day,” Robin Ortiz, the new manager at the Shopko Hometown Store at 1006 South County Rd. (U.S. Highway 63) in Toledo said last week.
A “Meet and Greet” for Ortiz is planned for Wednesday, Aug 31, from 9 a.m.- 11 a.m. inside the front of the store.
She will have merchandise coupons for guests and refreshments and snacks will be served.
Ortiz comes to Toledo from Chariton, where she grew up and had been the assistant Shopko Hometown manager before accepting the position here.
“The Tama-Toledo community is really inviting, everyone is very friendly. I enjoy being here as mich as in Chariton, it’s “homey,” Ortiz said.
Prior to management duties, Ortiz was the receiving specialist at the Chariton store for three years.
Ortiz received an Associate in Science degree from Indian Hills College in Ottumwa and a B.A. in Chemistry from Simpson College, Indianola.
“In transition from getting out of school and pursuing a career, I fell in love with Shopko, ” she said.
The Toledo location has 20 employees including the pharmacy and carries a full line including men, women and childrens clothing and shoes, groceries, toys, home furnishings, personal care items, electronics, hardware and auto supplies and has a full-service pharmacy.
Ortiz and family, including her fiance, Daniel, and their children in 4th grade and kindergarten and a third, to be two-years-old in October, plan to relocate here in the future.
Daniel is a stay-at-home dad right now, but works in electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
