Brothers Manuel and Israel Lopez-Lima opened the doors to their new Twin Cities Family Restaurant on U.S. Highway 30 West in Toledo on Nov. 2 and say business has been strong during their opening weeks.

The long-time restaurant location features seating for 130 and now is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also welcome private parties and meetings and say they have already booked a number of holiday gatherings.

There’s an extensive menu featuring a big selection of sandwiches, luncheon items and dinners. There are are up to four special offerings each day of the week ranging from roast chicken to shrimp and meatloaf.

The house specialty which Manuel says is lasagna, is even a special on the menu on Friday. Sandwiches include “gourmet chicken”, wraps, croissants, “The Melt Shop” and a list of “all time favorites” which includes burgers, tenderloins, fish and many more. There’s also salads and cold plate selections as well as appetizers.

For dinner, a ribeye steak is featured at “market price” which Manuel and Israel say allows them to pass on savings to customers when beef prices drop. In addition there’s sirloin steaks, shrimp, chicken, ham and pork chops, ribs fajitas and the specialty pasta dinners.

Breakfast covers everything from omelets to skillets, waffles and “Golden Brown Breakfasts.”

There are reduced prices on senior citizen and kids menus.

Beer and wine is available as well as an array of desserts and carry-out orders are welcome.

This is the first restaurant venture on their own for Manuel and Israel Lopez-Lima. However, they both have a background in the business.

Manuel has been a longtime chef in Ottumwa. Israel has been the front-of-the-house manager for their family restaurant business in Indiana.

The brothers have moved to the Toledo area.

Manuel and his wife, Rose, have a three-year-old daughter, Addelyn Sofia.
