Mike Skow is honored as one of Tulsa’s 40 young business leaders

On April 22, the Tulsa Business and Legal News (TB & LN) honored 40 young business leaders, under the age of 40, at an awards banquet at Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa.
Among those named was Mike Skow, a 2000 graduate of South Tama County High School. He is the son of Bill and Patty Skow, Toledo.
In introducing Mike, TB&LN stated “Most people have a certain crystallizing moment that shows them where they were meant to be in their career. Michael Skow is no different in this sense.” “When I was in high school, Tom Hanus took me flying in his Cessna 172. I knew from that first flight, I wanted to be a pilot,” said Skow.
TB&LN went on to say, “For Michael, a big achievement became a ladder he steadily climbed to becoming a part of Omni Air Transport. From new hire as first officer he has advanced to today, where he is president and director of operations.
In 2004 Skow graduated as salutatorian from Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Technology Management. During his last two years at Spartan he served as a flight instructor.
Skow now has over 4,000 flight hours, 2,000 of which are logged in Lear, Falcon and Challenger jet aircraft. He joined Omni in 2006 as a first officer and was promoted to captain within one year. In 2010 he was appointed Assistant Director of Operations and in 2011 Vice President and Director of Operations. Since early 2013 he has served as President and Director of Operations, taking the helm as Omni’s corporate leader. Skow continues to make significant improvements in the overall operation, response time, customer care and safety at Omni. Skow and Omni Air Transport have been active in support of the Wounded Warrior Project, Typros, a group for Tulsa’s young professionals, Patriot Guard Riders, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tulsa’s Child Abuse Network and Goodwill Industries of Tulsa. Under Skow’s leadership, Omni ranks in the top 5% of all private jet charter carriers nationally and has grown dramatically during the past several years. Skow looks forward to a long and satisfying career at Omni Air Transport.
