High school senior scholarships available

Conservation Districts of Iowa (CDI) is partnering with Tama Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) to foster the higher education endeavors of Iowa students interested in conservation and agriculture by offering local, regional, and statewide scholarships.

Iowa High School Class of 2023 students, including homeschoolers pursuing programs of study in any field of conservation or agriculture, may apply for the Conservation Scholarship. While many college majors qualify, preference will be given to students pursuing programs of study in conservation. The scholarship must be used for the student’s first year of a college education.

Find the application and all information at https://cdiowa.org/get-involved/scholarships/. Please note applications must be submitted to the SWCD in the county in which the student resides. Only applications and supporting documents for Tama County residents should be submitted to the Tama SWCD office at 102 Business Hwy 30W, Toledo, IA 52342 or by emailing melody.bro@ia.nacdnet.net by 4:30 p.m. on February 10. For the locations of other SWCD offices, visit https://idals-farms.iowa.gov/index.php/districtMap.

Three CDI scholarships will be awarded at the state level in the amounts of $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000. Six $500 regional awards will also be awarded.

In addition to the CDI scholarships, Tama SWCD is offering one $1,000 scholarship to a Tama County applicant. The Tama SWCD scholarship recipient will be chosen locally. Tama County residents completing the CDI scholarship application are automatically considered for this local scholarship.
