What to know from Monday night’s meeting

Contracts, bonds, and insurance for the Street Reconstruction Project were approved.

The quote and bid for the Fire Dept. EMS HVAC system and replacement of the 26-year-old furnace from Thomas Company were accepted.

The Council re-approved the LIWAP Agreement, a state program that provides Covid relief funds to help those struggling to pay water and sewer bills. This program is through MICA.

The Fiscal Year 2022 Annual Financial Report was approved.

The Fiscal Year 2022 Urban Renewal Report was approved.

The Fiscal Year 2022 Street Finance Report was approved.

The Council approved the write-offs of delinquent water bills on 8 properties dating prior to 2010 for a total of $981.39 was approved.

State Street Culvert contract approval and funding update was tabled for further information and financial consultation.

The Council approved the installation of snow route signs. Snow removal begins at a depth of four inches.

The Tama Fire Dept. updated the council on the financial specifications for a new truck without four-wheel drive for $370,000.

The Tama Police Dept. updated the council on the repair of the 2015 Ford Taurus cruiser with a blown head gasket and other damages. Repair costs are estimated at $5,000 to $7,000. The estimate for replacing the cruiser with a new Chevy Tahoe would be $58,000. Currently, three out of the five cruisers for the department are operational. Discussion on action has been tabled, waiting on further specifications.

The City’s Water Works has reported the water tower repairs, and graffiti removal is complete.
