Two injured in Highway 30 crash after semi catches fire

The Iowa State Patrol received a dispatch for a car crash on Highway 30 westbound near mile marker 204 at approximately 8 a.m. on Monday morning, Sept. 26. Investigators reported a 2013 Ford F450 was broken-down and parked in the right lane.

A 2020 Volvo Tractor Semi-truck struck the Ford from behind, jackknifing into the median and catching fire.

First responders rescued the driver of the Volvo, and immediately, they were taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

The Ford driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and wasn’t inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

This accident is still under investigation.
