Navy Seaman William C. Hennings, son of Cheryl A. and Todd W. Hennings, Elberon, recently qualified for the Navy Civil Engineer Corps (CEC) Collegiate program while serving at Navy Recruiting District Minneapolis, Minn.

As a Navy Civil Engineer Corps (CEC) officer, Hennings will join a special group of officers in charge of engineering, management, planning, construction, and maintenance of the Navy’s shore facilities. He will work in a variety of locations around the world in highly visible positions supervising many skilled personnel.

The three main areas in which the CEC officers may work are contract management, public works, and construction battalions. Sailors will also get engineering management experience, responsibility and authority far exceeding that offered by a private firm.
