GFWC Womens Club learns about Toledo Library programs

The Toledo GFWC Womens Club met on March 10, 2020. There were 10 present. Earlene Bacon, Nancy Carson, Marlene Eernisse, Arlene Gerlach, Karen Havran, Alice Holtz,

Sylvia Johnson, Donna Lasser, Ann McMullin and Carolyn Anderson.

Donna called the meeting to order, We gave the Pledge to the American Flag. Donna gave an inspirational thought about Love at St Patricks Day.

Our Program was by the new Librarian Sheri McFate. She told about the various programs that are available for children and adults. there is a summer reading program which several enjoy. There are websites and e=mail to find books that you would like to read. Can use a reader or kindle. If you have a Library card you can use the computer, look up ancestory,

Several things available to use to find things you would like to read about or look up. We gave a donation to the library since we hold our meetings there.

Roll was taken with each present telling what they were Happy about. Many interesting comments.

The minutes were read and approved.

The Treasurers report was given and okayed.

Dues are due in May or can pay half in May and half in September. They are $40.00

Correspondence – Prom committee is asking for a donation – will give $25.00. There are scholarships available for $200.00 each. Can go to any college or university in Iowa.

Officer and Committee reports – Ann McMullin reported that Lemon, baking powder, Mr. Clean or Dawn are good choices for Spring Cleaning.

Discussed making bags for little kids to have something to do during church – to help them keep busy. Will make two for each church at this time.

Talked about the Federated Date for this club. We joined the Federation in 1895. We should have a certificate for 100 years and also for 125 years. Marlene will check on that.

This Saturday – March 14 a Scholarship Meeting hwas palneed the Toledo Bank Room. We collected cash from the members present to help defray the expense of the lunch. The committee members give us $10 each also. Alice and Arlene will also helped with the luncheon.

It was suggested that if you cannot be in attendance that you still donate your $1 each month. Nancy moved – it was seconded and carried.

In the Federated News – Women were honored. Such as Carrie Chapman and Jane Addams. GFWC always looking for ways to honor our members.

We will have Sunnyhill Bingo and Meals coming up soon
