Arrest Report – Tama County Jail

February 25 – March 3, 2022

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Feb. 25

Trevor Leroy Eggers, 25, of Gladbrook was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and child endangerment (no injury). Eggers was released the same day on his own recognizance.

Ashlynn D Barnes, 25, of Gladbrook was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for child endangerment (no injury), assaulting a law officer, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with official acts and domestic abuse assault. Barnes was released the same day on her own recognizance.

Robert Levern Roquet, 47, of Evansdale was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office for failing to maintain control of a vehicle and for false reporting to a public entity.

Yvette Avila, 21, of Tama was arrested by Toledo Police for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and domestic assault with intent. Avila was released on Feb. 28 on bond.

Wesley Alan Bear, 44, of Tama was arrested by Tama Police for possession of a controlled substance and for possession of drug paraphernalia. Bear was released on Feb. 26 on conditions of a pre-trial release.

Feb. 26

Christopher Paul Cecak, 37, of Toledo was arrested by Toledo Police for OWI (1st offense), interference with official acts, driving with a license that has been revoked, failure to display registration and improper registration plate lamp. Cecak was released the same day on bond.

Jared Todd Nemmers, 31, of Belle Plaine was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office for driving while barred. Nemmers was released on bond on

Feb. 27.

A juvenile was arrested by Tama Police for assault causing bodily injury.

Eric Jose Pesina, 18, of Tama was arrested by Tama Police for assault causing bodily injury. Pesina was released on Feb. 27 on conditions of a pre-trial release agreement.

Amber Rose Navarro, 43, of Toledo was arrested by Toledo Police for assault causing bodily injury. Navarro was released on Feb. 27 on conditions of a pre-trial release agreement.

Feb. 27

Henry David Hansen, 23, of Norway was arrested by Toledo Police for OWI (1st offense) and for speeding. Hansen was released the same day on his own recognizance.

Megan Lynn Zirtzman, 21, of Cedar Rapids was arrested by Toledo Police for possession of a controlled substance and for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Angela Todd Davis, 41, of Traer was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for OWI (1st offense), driving under suspension, failure to provide proof of financial liability and improper registration plate lamp. Davis was released on Feb. 28 on her own recognizance.

Melissa Nicole Housley, 28, of Cedar Rapids was arrested by Toledo Police for violating a no contact order, operating a non-registered vehicle, speeding, failure to display registration, and a title transfer violation. Housley was released on Feb. 28 on her own recognizance.

Cody Allen Cavanaugh, 41, of Neenah, Wi. was arrested by Toledo Police for speeding, OWI (1st offense), carrying a weapon while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and an ineligible to carry weapons violation. Cavanaugh was released the same day on bond.

Breanna Ann Bly, 23, of Marshalltown was arrested by Meskwaki Police on a warrant for domestic assault (choking) and for false imprisonment. Bly was released on March 3 on conditions of a pre-trial release agreement.

Scott Jeffrey Smentek, 57, of Traer was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office for domestic assault causing bodily injury. Smentek was released on March 1 on his own recognizance.

March 1

David Lamont Jackson Jr., 27, of Pocola, Ok. was arrested by Meskwaki Police on a warrant for failure to appear in court.

Gregory Curtis Newsome Jr., 30, of Tama was arrested by Toledo Police for 5th degree theft. Newsome was released the same day after pleading guilty.

Dalton James Mitchell, 30, of Toledo was arrested by Toledo Police on a warrant for OWI and four counts of child endangerment. Mitchell was released on March 2 on bond.

March 2

Kari Lynn Hildahl, 25, of Tama was arrested by Tama Police on a warrant from Benton County.

William Dale Hoefle, 51, of Marion was arrested by Toledo Police for OWI (1st offense) and speeding. Hoefle was released on March 3 on his own recognizance.

March 3

Rose Marie Hayslett, 67, of Cedar Rapids was arrested by Meskwaki Police for OWI (2nd offense). Hayslett was released the same day on her own recognizance.

Lindsay Kay Lasley, 44, of Lake Andes, SD was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for failure to appear in court.

COURT NEWS

Scott Jeffery Smentek, 57, of Traer made an initial appearance in custody in district court on March 1 on charges including one count of domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness-1st offense, a serious misdemeanor. The charge stems from an incident that took place on February 28, 2022, at Smentek’s Traer residence. According to the criminal complaint in the case, a Tama County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the residence due to a report of a domestic assault. The victim in the case called dispatch alleging Smentek had struck them. The deputy observed the left side of the victim’s face to be swollen and discolored. Smentek subsequently denied to the deputy an assault occurred. Smentek was arrested. A no contact order of protection for domestic abuse assault was enacted by the court on March 1. An order to cancel/modify the no contact order was filed on March 8. Smentek waived his preliminary hearing and asserted his right to a speedy trial within 90 days. An arraignment date had not been set as of publication. Smentek is being represented by attorney Taylor Reichardt of Marshalltown.

Herman Miranda, 44, of Tama made an initial appearance in custody in district court on March 8 on charges including one count of domestic abuse assault-2nd offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. The charge stems from an incident that took place on March 7 at Miranda’s Tama residence. According to the criminal complaint, Miranda is alleged to have been involved in a verbal altercation with the victim in the case. Miranda allegedly struck the victim in the middle of the victim’s back with an unknown object while the victim’s back was turned. Herman then allegedly ran out of the room, returned with a knife, and gestured toward the victim with the knife. Herman allegedly then left the knife and the premises. A no contact order of protection for domestic abuse assault was enacted by the court on March 8. Miranda submitted a financial affidavit and application for appointment of counsel.
