Arrest Report – Tama County Jail

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Feb. 11

Casey Kelso, 37, of Traer was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant.

Feb. 12

Ashely Ruth Johnson, 39, of Tama was arrested by Meskwaki Police on a warrant for failure to appear in court and for violating conditions of a pretrial release. Johnson was released on Feb. 14 on bond.

Benjamin Larry Ernest Kutzner, 38, of Marshalltown was arrested by Meskwaki Police for OWI (1st offense) and for an open container violation. Kutzner was released on Feb. 13 on his own recognizance.

Feb. 13

Jeremy Joe Wyatt, 44, of Cedar Rapids was arrested by Meskwaki Police on a warrant for gathering where controlled substances are used, violation of the ineligible to carry weapon regulation, providing false ID to a law officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dane Michael Potter, 39, of Toledo was arrested by Toledo Police for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, abandonment/neglect of a dependent person, reckless use of a firearm (no injury), violation of the ineligible to carry weapon regulation, keeping of a vehicle or premise for controlled substance. Potter was released on Feb. 14 on conditions of a pretrial release.

Mikki Elizabeth Potter, 37, of Toledo was arrested by Toledo Police for domestic abuse assault (1st offense), possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, abandonment/neglect of a dependent person, violation of the ineligible to carry weapon regulation, keeping of a vehicle or premise for controlled substance. Potter was released on Feb. 14 on her own recognizance.

Jahmai John Henry Jones, 28, of Traer was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office for domestic abuse assault (1st offense) and for child endangerment (no injury).

Feb. 14

Aung Lwin Win, 38, of Marshalltown was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for failure to appear in court. Win was released on Feb. 15 on bond.

Feb. 15

Kari Lynn Hildahl, 25, of Tama was arrested by Tama Police for possession of drug paraphernalia and for 5th degree theft.

Taylor David Lorenzen, 23, of Coralville was arrested by Tama Police for possession of a controlled substance and for possession of drug paraphernalia. Lorenzen was released on Feb. 16 on conditions of a pre-trial release.

Skyler Joseph Steuhm, 23, of Tama was arrested by Toledo Police for OWI (2nd offense) and for driving while barred. Steuhm was released on Feb. 16 on bond.

Feb. 16

Jason Lamar Myles, 44, of Tama was arrested by Toledo Police for OWI (2nd offense), driving under suspension, failure to dim headlights and failure to provide proof of financial liability. Myles was released on Feb. 17 on conditions of a pre-trial release.

COURT NEWS

Michael Allan Small, 57, of Garwin appeared in district court on Feb. 15 on additional charges including six counts of child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor. Small was previously charged in this case with one count of domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury, a Class D felony. Charges stem from an incident that took place on Jan. 28 at Small’s residence. According to the most recent criminal complaint, Small engaged in a physical altercation with the victim’s parent. The altercation included being thrown down the stairs, arms physically grabbed and thrown around, and being choked. The incident was witnessed by the minor victims in the case and caused a substantial risk to their physical safety along with their mental and emotional health. Following the incident, Small was taken into custody and jailed. An arraignment is set for March 3 at 9:00 a.m. Small is being represented by attorney Fred Stiefel of Victor.

Derek J. Hutchinson, 33, of Tama entered a written arraignment and plea of not guilty in district court on Feb. 10 to charges including one count of domestic abuse assault impeding flow of air/blood (aggravated misdemeanor), one count of domestic abuse assault-2nd offense (aggravated misdemeanor), and one count of interference with official acts-bodily injury (serious misdemeanor). Charges stem from an incident that took place on Jan. 17, 2022, at Hutchinson’s Tama residence. According to the criminal complaint, Hutchinson allegedly pulled the victim by the hair and then grabbed their neck. Hutchinson allegedly fled the residence to a property directly south and fled from law enforcement, refusing all commands. Hutchinson was detained after allegedly attempting to flee again from law enforcement. A no contact order was issued on Jan. 18 for the victim in this case. A jury trial is set for May 23, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. Hutchinson is being represented by attorney Eric Ralph Eshelman.
