South Tama senior Amare Chavez signed his letter of intent to wrestle this fall at Grand View University. Chavez was a three sport athlete for the Trojans as he was involved in cross country, wrestling, and soccer. In wrestling for South Tama, Chavez was a three time state place-winner including his sixth place finish this past February
When asked about what made him choose Grand View over other options on the table, Chavez had this to say, “The wrestling program at Grand View really caught my eye on my visit. They are very successful between the coaches and wrestlers and they made me feel like family when I went to train up there a few times.”
Chavez also commented on the exciting academic and interactive opportunities Grand View will offer him.
“The school offers so many classes that I’m looking forward to taking and learning from, plus the friends I have will make my time up there all worthwhile,” he said.
Chavez was quick to mention his goals and aspirations for his time wrestling at Grand View.
“No doubt it will be tough, but if I persevere and stay strong, I will continue to have good success in the sport,” he said.
Chavez adds to the list as one of seven Trojan athletes out of the 2024 class to sign collegiately to compete in his sport. The whole STC wrestling community wishes Amare good luck in his future wrestling endeavors as he’ll compete for Grand View next fall.
