The Trojans closed out last week on a high note. South Tama hosted GMG for a non-conference game at Trojan field. STC captured their first win of the season with a 13-3 victory over GMG.

Earning the win for the Trojans was incoming freshman, Ashlynn Ellenbecker. She pitched for five innings before the 10 run rule was applied. Ellenbecker allowed 6 hits, 3 runs, had 3 errors and threw 3 strikeouts.

Allison Yuska, Lauren Yuska and Jaelin Berger each had two hits and Maci Fritz, Sabrina Holtz, Shae Slaven, Saylor Upah and Brittney Breya each had one hit. Leading the team in RBI’s was Holtz with two. Fritz, Upah, Breya, Berger and L. Yuska each recorded one RBI.

The win was much needed after facing tough competition with ranked teams Benton and Solon earlier in last week.

The Trojans began this week on the road to Vinton. They did not get quite the start they were hoping for as they dropped both games of the double header to the Vikings.

In game one there was a lot of back and forth in the score until the bottom of the 6th inning. The score was tied 13-13 going into the bottom of the 6th. The Vikings had a breakthrough at the plate scoring 10 runs thus ending the game with a 23-13 win.

The Trojans led for a majority of game two. The were up 5-2 in the 5th inning. The Vikings began to chip away at that lead and ultimately won the game 10-7.
