Kalinay collects 2nd straight IIAC honor

INDIANOLA, Iowa – For the second week in a row Simpson’s Dylan Kalinay is the Iowa Conference Track Performer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

The sophomore sprinter/hurdler from Toledo, Iowa wins the award following three first-place efforts at the Cornell Invitational held Saturday, April 9. He won the 200-meter dash, the 110-meter hurdles and ran the second leg of the winning 4×100-meter relay.

Kalinay posted the second-best time in the Iowa Conference in the 200, breaking the tape in 22.40 seconds. He won the 110 hurdles in 15.26 seconds helped the 4×100 relay finish in 42.44 seconds, currently the top time in the conference.

Kalinay – who has already won nine hurdle races in his young career – helped the Storm to a second-place finish at Cornell, where they scored 146.5 points.

The latest honor is the third career IIAC accolade for Kalinay, who won IIAC Indoor Track Performer of the Week honors on Feb. 22, 2015.

The Storm go to the Jim Duncan Invitational hosted by Drake this weekend, April 15-16.
