The 7th/8th grade wrestlers traveled to Vinton on Tuesday Nov. 10th for the first meet of the season. The Trojans have a small squad this year with only have eight wrestlers out.

“Having a small number is disappointing but does have some advantages,” said coach Steve Chyma. “One advantage is the kids get lots of 1 on 1 time which they definitely use that to help them improve and it showed the first meet.”

The meet results were: Garret Arp 4-5,Pin, Pin, Payton Vest pin, pin, Mitch Knock pin, pin, Aaron Neave 3-5, 5-0, Brody Chyma pin, pin, Nate Drummer pin, pin, pin, Vincent Branon pin, pin, Braydon Smith pin, pin. We wrestled 19 matches, winning 17, 16 by pins and losing 2.

“I was very pleased with our first outing. The kids went out and took care of business. They have been practicing hard and it really showed. We are not where we want to be yet. We have a lot of work to do to get better. The kids push hard every day. Keep a watch out for these wrestlers because good the excitement is coming,” said Chyma.
